Biography

William Russell Richards, the son of Russell Grant Richards (1895-1971) and Nellie Irene (Potter) Richards (1903-1965), was born in Erie, Pennsylvania^[1] on Sept. 1, 1923.^[2] He grew up with his parents and his sister Dorothy Ann (Richards) Quinn (1931-2017) in Ashtabula County, Ohio.^[3][4] He attended Denison University in Granville, Ohio.^[5] In 1942, while attending Denison U., he worked for the Erie Shores Ice Cream Co. in Geneva, Ohio.^[1]

On Oct. 16, 1947, Bill married Anna Mae Leasure in Ashtabula Ohio.^[6] Bill and Anna continued to live in Ashtabula, where they had a son, William Jr., and a daughter, Kathleen, and Bill worked as a driver/salesman for a retail milk company.^[7]

During the Vietnam War, Bill served as a Sergeant First Class with the US Army (1968-1971).^[8] He was living in El Paso, Colorado at the time of his death on May 13, 1988.^{[2][9] [10][11]} He is buried in Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.^[8][12]
