Birth:
Francis Orestes Richards was born at Cummington, Hampshire, Massachusetts on 23 August 1827, son of Orestes Richards and Nancy.[1] Although the Cummington record of his birth calls him "Orestes Francis", he is called "Francis Orestes" (or "Francis O." or simply "F. O.") in all other known records.
Marriage:
Francis O. Richards married Mirriam A. Tirrill of Cummington, at Cummington, on 30 May 1851.[2]
Although Francis was born at Cummington, his marriage record calls both him and his parents "of Bleeker, N.Y." Evidently, the Richards family had moved to Bleeker after Francis' birth, but before his marriage to Miriam. [Research Note: Although not yet consulted, census records (1830-1850) should bracket more closely when the Richards family moved to Bleeker.]
Children:
Miriam and Francis Orestes and Miriam (Tirrill) Richards had 10 children:
Charles Augustus Richards, b. 5 May 1852
Francis Hiram Richards, b. 28 January 1854
Helen Marie Richards, b. 13 December 1855
Francis Ward Richards, b. 17 January 1858
Julia M. Richards, 19 March 1860
Geneva Richards, b. 23 May 1862
Arthur B. Richards, b. 23 May 1864
Son. b. 23 September 1866
Almon M. Richards, 11 April 1868
Herbert L. Richards, 7 November1871
Death:
Francis O. Tirrill, son of Orestes and Nancy L. Dawes, died of a cerebral hemorage at Cummington on 26 March 1895, age 67 yrs., 7 mos., 3 days.[3]
