Charles was the son of Charles Richards and Louisa Green
Baptism: 26 September 1860, Kings Hill, St Andrew Mission Church, parents on this record Charles Richards and Louisa.
Father's occupation given as bolt forger.
Charles Richards took over the management of the family business after the death of his father and 2 older brothers. In 1905 Charles Richards Senior died and was replaced by his son Charles, who had outstanding business abilities. The company dramatically expanded with a new factory on the Flatts Estate, where they produced nuts and bolts, repetition parts, and special turned bolts made from hot or cold forgings.
