Hello, I am currently doing a deep dive into Tryon Giles and Rhoda Shaw. I've noticed on a lot of trees that Rhoda's parents are listed as Isaac Shaw and Prudence Merritt or as Pierre Shaw and an unknown mother; the dates/locations just don't match up. I'm thinking that she is someone elses daughter. I am also looking for the parents of Tryon Giles. All I can confirm, via a paper trail, is that Tryon moved to New York from I think Maine around 1820. Other than that I've got nothing concrete to go on.

Hey C,

Thanks again for signing the Honor Code some time ago. I wanted to check in with you to see how things are going. How do you like WikiTree so far? Have the tips in the New Member How To Pages been helpful or have they left you with questions?

It is great to read that you are going to pin the errors in other trees/connections. The way to go is to source each and every profile, thus proving the links. How is the hunt for sources going?

Please let me know if you have any questions about WikiTree. To contact me, log in to WikiTree and go to your profile. Use the Reply link below my comment to be sure that I will be notified. You can also click my name to send a private message, or post a comment on my profile page if you really prefer. It's really is great to have you on board.

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Hi, C! Thanks for signing the Honor Code! I hope you enjoy this site as much as I do, as it is a lot of fun and there are tons of great people collaborating.

First, make sure you check out our New Member How-To pages. They will save you time learning our system: Member How-To pages.

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

Unlike a lot of websites, when you receive messages on WikiTree, you're actually hearing from a real person. :-)

Please leave messages from the Greeters Project on your profile for at least a month, so that other Greeters know that you've been properly welcomed. Let me know if you have questions.

The GEDCOMpare process guide has tips on how to use the data in your file most efficiently.

If you have any questions about how WikiTree works, log into WikiTree and go to your profile. Use the ‘Reply’ link below my comment. Alternatively, click my name to visit my profile. From there, you can leave a comment, or send a private message.

Have fun

Hilary ~~ WikiTree Greeter

PS There is a tool that can help with cleaning up GEDCOM created biographies. It lets you concentrate on the genealogy rather than the formatting. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.
