Henry Reichel was a Volga German.

Henry Reichel, 91, Greeley, formerly of Windsor, died Sunday, Aug. 5, at Kenton Manor Nursing Home.

He was born Aug. 3, 1899, to David Sr. and Marie (Bott) Reichel in Dittle, Russia.

Mr. Reichel came to Windsor with his family in 1907 when he was 8 years old and was raised on a farm. He became an auto mechanic as a young man and opened an auto repair shop with Pete Clouse in 1920. On April 25, 1923, he married Emma Fritzler in Windsor.

In 1933 he was co-owner with Pete Lohry and sold out in 1943 when he went to work for Weld County. In 1944, he worked for Great Western, then at Fort Warren Air Force Base as an auto mechanic and also for Foster's Garage, which is now Kennedy Chevrolet. He retired in 1970 and has lived with his niece for the past several months. His wife died June 23, 1989.

He was a charter member of St. Johns Lutheran Church and the oldest male member. He helped build the church with his father and brother. He also belonged to Greeley Senior Citizens.

Survivors are numerous nieces and nephews. Two sisters and a brother are deceased.
