Biography

Birth

James Redfern was born in 1844 in Manchester, Lancashire.[1]

Marriage

James Redfern and Louisa Ann Joule were married at the Victoria Wesleyan Chapel, Cheetham, Lancashire on 11th September 1884.[2] The register shows that James was a 40 year old bachelor, living at 173 York Road, Cheetham and working as a Letter Press Printer.[3] His father was given as James, a brush manufacturer. Louisa was 27, a spinster living at 3 Armitage Street, Cheetham and the daughter of John Joule, an agent. The witnesses to the marriage were Peter Joule and Henrietta Joule.

Death

James died on 3rd November 1920 at 27 Portland Street, Southport, Lancashire.[4]

Probate records state that his usual address was Richmond Works, Greengate and that probate was granted in London on 15th December 1920 to Louisa Ann Redfern, widow. [5] His effects were valued at £4,770 8s 14d.
