Bertha (Rappaport) Garson (1919 - 2001)

Biography

Bertha "Babs" Rappaport was born on the 15th June 1919, in Whitechapel, Middlesex, England, the daughter of Harris Rappaport and Sarah Bomhel.^[1]

On the 29th September 1939, Bertha (20), a Dressmaker, was living with her family at 99 Downs Road, Hackney. Those at home were her father: Harris (60), his occupation listed as Dressmaker; her mother: Sarah (50), also a Dressmaker; her brother: Mark Joseph (incorrect year of birth gave an age of 33 years instead of 23 years), a Commercial Traveller; and Bethnal Green-born Mark Shalet (27), a stallholder at the markets.^[2]

She married Montague Sidney Garson in 1946, in St Margaret's Church, Westminster.^[3] Their daughter Sandra Diane was born in 1948.

Bertha "Babs" Garson née Rappaport passed away in 2001, in Redbridge, London, England, aged 81 years.^[4]
