Type: Biography
Note: 'Thomas Ralph, first of Guilford, Conn., and later of Warwrick, R.I., married (first) Elizabeth Desbrough, and (second) in 1656 Mary Cook, widow of John. Both Mr. and Mrs. Ralph died in 1682. On Sept. 25, 1671, he and two others were appointed to make a rate and levy an assessment upon the inhabitants of Mashaulatauk, in Warwick. His will was proved June 15, 1682, at Warwick, and in it he bequeated land in Warwick to his sons Samuel and Thomas. By his first marriage Thomas Ralph had a sone Samuel, of Providence, who married Mary, and they both died in 1723. By his second marriage he was the father of children as follows: Alice, born Jan. 13, 1657, died in 1682; she married Thomas Fenner, born in September, 1652,son of Arthur and Mehetable (Waterman) Fenner, and he died Feb. 27, 1718. Thomas, born July 12, 1658, died in 1696; he married Eleanor, who also died in that year, and he was a resident of Providence. Sarah, born Ded. 4, 1661, married a Mr. Benjamin. Deliverance was born Aug. 20, 1666.'

Type: Biography
Note: "Austin's Genealogical Dictionary" - Ralph. Thomas (p. 360, 1st col.). His first wife, from whom he was divorced, was Elizabeth, daughter of Isaac Desborough or Disborough of Elseworth, co. Cambridge, gent., whose will dated 6 Dec. 1660 was proved 21 Dec. 1660 (P. C. C. Nabbs 264). After her divorce from Ralph she married John Johnson of Guilford, Conn., and is named as "Elizabeth Johnson" in her father's will. Isaac Disborough was evidently a close relative of John Disborough, Oliver's Major General, and of Samuel Disborough the early settler of Guilford, Conn., who returned to England and was M. P. for Edinburgy (1656) and Mid Lothian in Oliver's Parliaments, and Chzancellor of Scotland under Oliver and Richard Cromwell. Samuel died on 10 Dec. 1690 at the family manor of Elseworth, Cambs., which he purchased in 1656. It eventurally descended to his granddaughter, who married Matthew Holworthy, Esq. (EEHGR., V. 41, pp. 353-364).[17]
