His wife was Miss Phylis Sturt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Ray Sturt, late of Tumut. Frederick was one of the three Putland brothers who featured in the gold strike at Split ters' Creek, near Red Hill forest, some years ago and which caused a minor gold rush.[1]
