Biography

William was born the son of a plumber, William Spence Purves. Bill joined the State Patrol after the war, but when his father needed help at Purves Plumbing, he and his brother David Andrew followed their father into the plumbing business, He and Corrine (born Karin) were high school sweethearts, but did not immediately get together.

William fought in World War II in the European theater until a piece of shrapnel in his Butt brought him home injured. He would later joke to his son that had it been 2 inches higher, Mark would not have been born.

William married his high school sweetheart in 1947, and had 2 children,

William returned and began working as a Washington State Patrolman, but retired when his father needed assistance at Purves Plumbing with his brother. William worked there until after the death of their parents, when the business was sold in 1976.

Later in life the Purves family retired to 332 Sunshine Cir W Desert Aire, Washington 99349 previously lived at 443 Sunshine Cir, Othello, WA 99344.

Bill and Corrine lost their youngest son Steve at their home in Desert Aire, when a heart attack brought on by Muscular Dystrophy took him in the shower.

Bill was diagnosed with Dementia, and put into a care facility in Yakima, where he died in 1997.
