Hi Mike, and welcome to WikiTree! You mention ancestors emigrating to Canada from Scotland and Ireland. I wanted to let you know we have two great projects that focus on Scottish Clans and Irish Roots here called Scottish Clans Project and Irish Roots Project They might be places for you to get involved once you have settled into WikiTree.
We would welcome your expertise in researching ancestors emigrating from both countries.
Thank you so much for joining WikiTree. Volunteers are what make it such an awesome place to share our family ties.
Welcome to WikiTree :) I hope you have a wonderful experience here on our site. We're great for making cousin connections! Happy researching!
Eowyn ~ WikiTree Team
P.S. If you have a minute, maybe you'll pop into our G2G Forum and post a little introduction about yourself! We love getting to know our members better and it's a great place to find like-minded researchers and potential family! Just follow the link, click Ask A Question and you're good to go!
P.P.S. We also have a great blog and we've very active on social media if you want to join in the fun! :)
I have been researching for 28 years, mostly in the northeast US and eastern Canada. I am fluent in French as well, and have vast experience in French-Canadian research, as well as New England.
I, like all of you, still have my "brick walls", and hope to chip away a few with connections I may make here. I also would love to help anyone here with any of their stubborn ancestors, especially in the geographical areas I mentioned above, as well as the Scottish and Irish immigrants into Nova Scotia/New Brunswick, and especially the British Loyalists who became refugees there after the Revolutionary War.
You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree. You might want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.
Our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you with specific problems if you have any.
Good luck growing your tree, and thanks for offering to help with our shared tree Enjoy collaborating on WikiTree
Hilary
