He died due to disease on 12 Apr 1863 at a general hospital at Saint Louis, Missouri. He was initially buried at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery.[1] He was later reburied at Hasson Cemetery, Jenera, Hancock County, Ohio.[2]
Research Notes
Two men with the same last name, William C. Pugh and Samuel Pugh, served in the same company. They may have been brothers or cousins. I have so far been unable to identify Hugh Pugh outside the Ohio Roster.
There are no pension documents on Fold3 for him.
There was another Hugh Pugh living in Hancock County, born about the same time, but he lived until 1899. One appears in Hancock County in the 1850 Census, while another is in Wyandot County. It is unclear if either one may be this Hugh Pugh.
Based on very similar headstones at the same cemetery, he may be the son of George W. Pugh and Margaret (Brooks) Pugh... But I can find no documentary evidence.
