Biography

COTTONDALE – Clell Marshall Pugh, age 79, of Cottondale, died October 27, 2016, at home. Services will be 3 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2016, at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Ralph Smith and Bro. Chad Lowery officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy D. Pugh; parents, Girlie and Linnie Pugh; daughter, Pam Norwood; grandson, Jonathan Holmes; sister, Louise Hyche; and brothers, Choice Pugh and Cecil Pugh. Survivors include his daughter, Terri Shields (Terry); son, Marshall Pugh (Tracey); sister, Grace Pierce; and grandchildren, Matthew, Meagan, Jeremy, Savanna, Jennifer, Elisabeth, Devin and Garrison. Clell was originally from Gordo, Alabama. During his life time, he worked at Saunders Construction Company, Jim Walter Mine #5 and as an independent logger and farmer. He was a loving husband and father who will be greatly missed. Pallbearers will be Danny Burroughs, Tommy Hyche, James Mahurin, Roy Pugh, Larry Turner and Mike Whitehead. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Autism Child First, 525 Energy Center Boulevard, Suite 1605 – 1606, Northport, AL 35473.
