T. R. as he was also called was born Dec. 31, 1847 near Moores Bridge in Tuscaloosa County near the Pickens County line. (Only 14 years old when the Civil War started, but) On Nov 21, 1864, at age 17, he joined Co. G 41st Ala Inf Regt. CSA, (in Petersburg, Virginia). (T. R. was wounded in one of the last battles of the Civil War.)
Tignal Richard Pugh, son of William Jr. Pugh and Sarah Francis Robertson, married Martha Adeline Bailey, daughter of George Perry Bailey and Rebecca Slaughter, on September 09, 1865. Tignal married Martha A. (Adeline) Bailey at the home, (Crosslands Township, Tuscalloosa, Alabama, 1860 Census) of her father, George P. Bailey.
They later moved to the Zion community, above Gordo, in Pickens County. Here they labored in the fields and raised their family.
Tignal Richard and Martha Adeline Pugh had eleven children: Sarah Frances, William Wilson, David Madison, Lou Della, John Ransom, H. Viva, Thomas Dawson "Doss", Estell Edna "Tillie", Artie Lee, Mattie Victor, and Bascom Pugh.
