Antonina Provenzano is born and baptized on 2 September 1868 in Corleone, the daughter of Maestro Giuseppe Provenzano and Angela Palazzo. Her godfather is Don Florindo Monsolino.[1]
Antonina is 21 (b. 1869) when she marries Sebastiano Di Palermo, 24 (b. 1866), born in Italy, son of Leoluca di Palermo and Marianna Ferrara, on 10 April 1890 in Manhattan.[2] Sebastiano is a known Mafia associate.[3]
Sebastiano and Antonina, who is called "Lena," have at least five children: Francesco Paolo/Francis (1894), Leoluca/Louis (1896), Mary (c. 1900), Giuseppe (1902), and Joseph/Joe (1903).
Francesco Paolo is born 5 January 1894 in Manhattan.[4]
Leoluca is born 13 April 1896 in Manhattan.[5] He is called "Louis" in the record of his death in 1917.
Sebastiano and his son, Leoluca, emigrate from Italy in 1898, joining his wife, Antonina Provenzano, at 395 First Av. in New York City.[6]
Giuseppe is born 23 February 1902 in Manhattan.[7]
"Joe" or "Joseph" are the most common Anglicizations of "Giuseppe." ("Joseph" is the Latin form of "Giuseppe," found in Catholic baptismal records.) The birth of Joe in 1903 suggests his brother, born the previous year, has died.
Joe is born 25 July 1903 in Manhattan. Sebastiano and Lena are 36 and 35 at the time of his birth.[8]
Louis dies on 6 February 1917 in Manhattan. He is 20 (b. 1897), single, born in the US. He is buried 8 February in St. Raymond Cemetery.[9]
