Ian was born in 1939 in Aberdeen. Ian Proud was the youngest child of Robert Proud and Violet Shiach. He was a local Bucksburn lad as they lived in 39 Oldmeldrum Rd, Bucksburn, Aberdeen. School was never his forty he'd rather work for Mitchells Dairy except on days when he had football. He met Elsie his future wife in Bucksburn although she came from a different area. I was love at first sight and they were together from the age of 14. He was in the RAF serving at Kinloss, Air Base. He worked for the Paper mill like his brother Robert. He later bought a small croft in Kemnay so he could have animals. He loved to watch his calves and pigs grow. His job was at John Fyfe's Kemnay Quarries where he worked as a Diesel Engineer, he was very highly respected there. He later moved to Clovenstone, Kintore and transferred to another of John Fyfe's Quarries Toms Forrest. Next move was to Overbrae, Fisherie, where he went back to farming. As the kids grew and were ready to leave home he decided it was time to move again and moved to Newmachar. He was quickly re-employed by John Fyfe's at the Dyce Quarry, Where he worked until he was 48 when ill health took over. He had a heart bypass at 50 and never went back to work. He later developed Dementia and he passed away in 2016 in Aberdeen Hospital.
