The purpose of this project is to collaborate in posting to WikiTree information relating to the 20 Latin American nations: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Venezuela. The Latin America Project is open to anyone who has an interest in the geography, history, politics, government, economy, population statistics, culture, religion, languages or other elements related to Latin America.
Belize, the Guianas and those islands of the Caribbean where English, French and Dutch are the official languages are not part of this project.

Goals
The goals of the Latin America project are to make every single Latin American profile the very best it can be and to provide help and support to WikiTree members who manage profiles that have some relation to one or more of the 20 nations of Latin America. As the numbers of WikiTree members, profiles and families increase, and the amount of information grows, we may occasionally decide to split out specific countries as sub-projects as we have done with Mexico and Puerto Rico. We wish to leave a lasting legacy of work for future generations and current researchers that can facilitate their quest for family history.
El objetivo del proyecto Latin America es hacer que cada perfil latinoamericano sea lo mejor posible y brindar ayuda y apoyo a los miembros de WikiTree que administran perfiles que tienen alguna relación con América Latina. A medida que aumenta el número de miembros, perfiles y familias de WikiTree, y aumenta la cantidad de información, ocasionalmente podemos decidir dividir países específicos como subproyectos como lo hemos hecho con México y Puerto Rico. Getting involved in the Latin America Project
You can contribute to the project in several ways. These include:
- Profile Improvers Team
- Sub Projects Teams
- Latin American Politicians
- Latin American Writers
In order to be included in the Latin America Project, and be added to the Member Contributions page, you need to be active in the project as part of one or more of these teams. New teams can also be formed to match member interest. For more information see our Teams page.
