He passed away on December 5, 1954 in an auto accident at Route 19 and McClelland Rd, N. Strabane Twp., Pennsylvania. At the time, he was coming home from working a shift as an officer for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. His name is carved in the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC.
