John Thomas Porter was born 10/10/1948 in Berwyn, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. He, his Father (Harry Granger Porter, Jr.), Mother (Mary Talbot Given-Porter-Yeager), and his sister (Patricia Lee Porter) moved to Clarendon Hills, Ill to live with Grandparents, Harry Granger Porter Sr. & Della Lee-Porter. Family moved to Park Forest Illinois when John was approximately 6 yrs old where the family lived until John's father died in 1965. John, Mother and sister moved to Denver Colorado in 1966 where John and Patricia attended the University of Denver. John transferred after one year to Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. After Graduation, John worked for a major bank, a computer software firm, and the US Department of Defense as a Senior Accountant. John Married Ann Marie Craig on 10/10/1975 and had two children, Erin Renee and Todd Michael Porter. John and Ann divorced in 1992. John remarried on 8/30/1997 to Bonny Edmonds -Martinez. Moved to McChordsville Indiana in 2008 with the transfer of work and retired in 2012. John & Bonny moved to Mount Juliet TN in 2014.

P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

That tutorial page is very helpful. You are matching your profiles to any that may already exist on WikiTree based on the data. Then you will either match or reject them based on if they are the same person. This keeps from having multiple profiles for the same person. It does take some time and if you have questions about something just reply to this.
I am glad that you are reading the "How To's" they will really help. It takes everyone some time to learn their way around but I am sure that in no time you will become very familiar with the system. It is a great community and there are a lot of helpful people. You can also ask questions in our g2g forum. A lot goes on in there and that is where a lot of members go to ask questions and other members are always happy to help.
