Thank you for your welcome message. I started full throttle and uploaded a GEMCOM file from Ancestry.com and just started the "How-To" pages. So far, this is very intimidating. I hope it starts making sense to me because it appears to be a wonderful tool and maybe I will inadvertently provide someone else with some helpful information.

Thank you, I appreciate the welcome. I'm not quite over the intimidation factor I experienced when I uploaded my GEDCOM file and got the results of the GEDCOMcompare. I've just started the "How-To" pages and still don't know what I'm doing.

Hi John,

That tutorial page is very helpful. You are matching your profiles to any that may already exist on WikiTree based on the data. Then you will either match or reject them based on if they are the same person. This keeps from having multiple profiles for the same person. It does take some time and if you have questions about something just reply to this.

I am glad that you are reading the "How To's" they will really help. It takes everyone some time to learn their way around but I am sure that in no time you will become very familiar with the system. It is a great community and there are a lot of helpful people. You can also ask questions in our g2g forum. A lot goes on in there and that is where a lot of members go to ask questions and other members are always happy to help.

We were all new once 🙂
