Biography

Margaret born Polk was born 15 Jan 1741 in Dublin, Dublin, Ireland. According to several family histories, Margaret married John Henry. They had the following children:

  • James Henry, born Oct 22, 1767 in Chester, PA; died Jan 28, 1860 in Grampian, Clearfield, PA.[1] James married Lydia Brookes in Chester, PA. [2]
  • Mary Henry Hutchison was born on 2 Aug 1771 and died 3 Feb 1853 in Stone Valley, Huntingdon, PA. She married John Hutchinson. [3]
  • Elizabeth Henry Fagan was born 08 Apr 1774 in Chester, PA. [4]She married Asaph Fagan. [5]
  • Margaret Henry was born 20 SEP 1777. She married Samuel Morrison.[6] She died 1 Aug 1863. [7]
  • John Henry was born in 1780. He married Sarah Massey [8] and died 3 Oct 1856.[9] I believe there is a mistake in the Find A Grave Memorial for this John Henry. It says he was born in Ireland, but since his older siblings were born in Chester, PA, it doesn't not make sense that he was born overseas.
  • Samuel Henry, went to war during the War of 1812, but never returned.

Margaret passed away circa 1828, at age 87 in Stone Valley, Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, United States.

Robin: I saw your entry for Margaret Polk Henry. I am Dwight Polk with family history that might help (or not) you. I saw that James Henry was born at Chester, Penn., in the time period that my line of Polks was in the same area. The President James Knox Polk's family line was in the Carlisle area during roughly the same period.
