Hi Peter, please make sure that you are adding a full source citation to your Pre-1700 profiles. It is great that you have the link to the source but on Pre-1700 the source citation itself needs to be added. I added the one on your profile for Josephus Neher. FamilySearch has a copy citation button so you will only need to paste them to your profiles. If you have any questions let me know. - Laura

Hi Peter,

Thanks for all your work on WikiTree. I noticed that you have begun adding profiles for the pre-1700 ancestors you have found in your search. Congratulations on finding records back that far!

Since you are now back in the time period where many people can be descended from those ancestors, we need more details in your source area. As collaborative genealogists, we need to tell each other our sources so that we can work together to assess the relative reliability of the source and the evidence it contains.

The Sourcer app can make creating citations for the Ancestry records you are finding really easy.

Hi Peter,

You are creating a lot of Pre-1700 profiles with improper sources. Please read over the pages that Claire posted for you below. You may also want to consider joining a project. Verifiable sourcing is not an option on Pre-1700 profiles. A project would help you with that, you may also reach out to your Greeter, or a Mentor.

Hello Peter,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors can be shared by many descendants, so collaboration is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

The Germany Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find other possibilities. Review the project page to learn about resources and guidelines as well as how to collaborate with the project members.

Have questions? Ask in the comments section of my profile.

Remember to cite reliable sources in pre-1700 profiles you manage, or edit. (See: Pre-1700 Reliable Sources).

Hi Peter

As you have been a member of WikiTree for a few weeks now I thought I would check in to see how you are getting on with the site.

Has the How-to been helpful or left you with any questions?

I am here to help with any problems or queries you may have. Just click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page or send me a private message.

Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Hi Peter,

A warm welcome to WikiTree. You are now a full member and can add your family to the big tree!

Click here to start with our New Member How To Pages. They will save you time, energy and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Hope you enjoy WikiTree as much as I have. You never know when you will find a lost family member or ancestor. Or maybe find a hidden family secret about an ancestor. Genealogy to me is like being a detective looking for clues into the past.

Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile as the links will work from there.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm always happy to help!
