Her mother Jane (b 24 August 1826 nee Rees) died on 11 Dec 1868 and in 1870 her father, Captain Walter Perrott (b 9 Oct 1826) re-married to Mary Ann Harding (nee Burgess, widow of William, who had two daughters.) Attended National School, Pembrey, Llanelli with George Lewis, later to be her husband. Lived in Railway Terrace, next door to the North Star Hotel. George and Emily married in Llanelli in 1883. They moved to Pembroke Dock where Ivy was born in 1885. By 1891 they were living in Pembrey, Carmarthenshire with children George Powell (7), Ivy Winifred (5), Erle Rocheford Robert (4) and Violet Blanche (3). George worked as a schoolteacher and later became headmaster of an elementary school in Burry Port.

FAMILY NOTES ON EMILY JANE PERROTT

"Born 19 November 1861, died 26th February 1912 at 8, Pemberton Avenue, Burry Port. Daughter of Captain Walter Perrott, she had one brother, Robert Rees Perrott of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Emily was born in Minor St, Llanelli and was a very pretty girl. Her mother died when Emily was about 10 and Captain Walter remarried a widow who had two daughters. These latter were wealthy and lived a fast life. They pushed Emily and Bob on one side. She attended the National School in Pembrey Rd. Llanelli with George Lewis, later to be her husband and then she became a pupil teacher.

After Grandpa Lewis left college, he took a job at Alderman Davies’ School in Neath and he married Emily. They lived in Railway Terrace, Llanelli, where Uncle George was born. (Next door to the North Star Hotel.) In this locality the Perrott family was well established and spread out. George and Emily moved to Pembroke Dock in 1885, where lvy Winifred was born in May 1885.

Emily contracted pneumonia and the locality did not apparently suit her. On the 1st Jan 1886 George, her husband, got headmastership of Burry Port Copperworks School, and they moved to Burry Port.

They took the ex-headmaster’s house at 8, Pemberton Avenue. The pneumonia, however, affected Emily’s lungs and she had occasional haemorrhages but recovered to a large extent. Erle, Violet, and Ivy were born in 8, Pemberton Avenue. Emily was taken ill in 1912 and died of pneumonia, aged 50."
