Baptism

Note: Per IGD her supposed brother Jean Perrier is actually a clerical error, the child's name being written as Jean, copying the father's name, but it would be Madeleine.

Date: Unknown, estimated around 1675, see notes below.
Notes: This record had a previous birth date of 25 FEB 1674 in Beauport, unfortunately this is not possible as the only births recorded from church records on that day are related to Jean Perrier[1], son of Jean Perrier dit Lafleur and Marie Gaillard. Seems like it is the same parents as the person in this record but of the wrong sex and name. The previous and next records are not related to the same family. (The LAFRANCE summary for Jean Perrier indicate female, but looking at the actual text of the record, it is clear it is indicated "fils" which means son, not "fille" which would have been for a daughter.)
Notes: Due to the church records burning down in 1916[2] the original records are no longer available and we have to rely on copies, unfortunately some years appear to be missing including years 1675, 1676, 1677 and 1818.

Translation: The thirty-first day of January, one thousand seven hundred and ten, the undersigned priest, in the functions of the Parish Priest of St Louis at the top of the island of Montreal, gave the benediction to René Fortin, aged twenty-seven and a half years son of late Louis Fortin resident of the parish of Sts-Anges de la Chine and Catherine Godin the father and mother on the one hand And Marie Magdeleine Perrier widow of PIerre Sabourin inhabitant of this parish daughter of the late Jean Perrier and Marie Gaillard the father and mother residing in this parish on the other hand after having published the three benches seen the twelfth the other the nineteenth and the twenty sixth of the said month and year, and not having appeared any interference with said marriage was made in the presence of Jean Neuveux inhabitant of this parish steward father of the said husband, and Pierre LeDuc also resident of this parish brother-in-law of the said husband, of Catherine Godin wife of the said Neuveux and mother of the said husband, Jean Brunet also inhabitant of this parish steward wife of the said wife who declared not knowing how to sign of this act according to the order of reservation of said René Fortin who signed with me.

More research will be required. The last known record of her existence is the marriage of René Fortin February 1740[11].
