Biography

William was a Friend (Quaker)

William Penington was a son of Isaac Pennington and his first wife Abigail Allen. ^[1] Based on the date of his death, he was born about 1622.

On 13 January 1678/9 he was granted administration of the estate of his brother Arthur Pennington, who died in Bologna Italy, a Catholic priest. ^[2]

Like his brother Isaac Pennington, and possibly following his example, William became a Quaker and was buried in the Quaker cemetery of London, April 1689. ^[3] He apparently died unmarried and with no children, so that his sisters, nephews and nieces were among the primary beneficiaries of his Will ^[4] proved 15 April 1689. He named:

Sisters Abigail Corbet, Bridget Moore, and Judith Mollineux

Nephews William (godson), John and Edward Penington, sons of brother Isaac

Niece Mary Wharley

Daniel Wharley, husband of Mary, named executor
