Biography

Morrison (Morris) C. Peer/Pear (abt.1815 Schooleys Mountain, Morris, New Jersey - about 1850 Westmoreland, Pennsylvania, United States) was the son of Daniel Peer (bp. 10 Mar 1791 Pompton Plains, Morris, New Jersey – 4 AUG 1863 Schooleys Mountain, Morris, New Jersey) and and his wife Anna.

On 29 May 1836 in Morris County, New Jersey Morris C Peer married Clarissa Colver^[1] (1820–1875).

Clarissa was the daughter of David Payne Collver, born 1787, died 1878, married Margaret Meyers, daughter of Jacob Meyers. Their children were all born at Schooley;s Mountain, New Jersey^[2]

They lived in New Jersey until they moved to Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania prior to 1848 where their daughter Elizabeth was born.

1. David Jayne Colliver Peer (11 Aug 1837 New Jersey - 24 Aug 1911 West Bolivar, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania) married (1) Isabella Henderson. Death certificate^[3] shows father as Maurice Peer and mother as Clarrisa Culver both born in New Jersey.
2. Margaret (1840 - ) living with John Beaty family in Unity, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania in 1850 census. Brother Amos on same page of census living with a different family.
3. Amos C Peer (15 Jan 1843 Tewksbury Township, Hunterdon, New Jersey - 21 Oct 1896 Stoystown, Somerset, Pennsylvania) LIving in John Nichols household in 1850 census in Unity, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania. On 10 Jun 1894 in Somerset, Pennsylvania married Rose A. Murray^[4]. Marriage record shows father as Morris Peer, Mother Clarrissa Peer.
4. Deborah H. Peer (24 Sep 1846 Essex County?, New Jersey – 2 Jan 1928 Medina, Medina, Ohio^[5]) married Edward Mosgrove (1 May 1834 Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania - 20 Apr 1913 Medina, Medina County, Ohio). Death certificate shows father as Morris Pear born in New Jersey and mother as Clarissa Cullver? also born in New Jersey.
5. Elizabeth M Peer (15 Sep 1848 West Fairfield, Westmorland, Pennsylvania – 25 Mar 1919 Medina, Medina, Ohio^[6] ) married Harrison Buttolph 1846–1926

1. Daniel Morris Peer (19 Apr 1839 New Jersey – 21 May 1908 Johnstown, Cambria, Pennsylvania married Emmaline Rowland. However, his death certificate shows his father as Morris D. Peer and mother as Nancy Cullborn. More research is required.
2. Ellen 1846 - 1871 Likely some other parents
3. James Peer 1850–1889 some genealogies list him as their son but appears impossible.
4. Bulah b. 1845 - some genealogies list her as the child of Morris and Clarissa but no confirmation has been found

The children were dispersed after the early death of their father prior to 1850 as the 1850 census shows them living in different homes at that time. Many of the children worked for the railroad.
