Marianna Pecoraro is the daughter of Giovanni Pecoraro, a Morello gangster from Piana dei Greci, and Vincenza Galati, a housewife from Partinico. She and her brother, Michele, are born in San Cipirello, where their parents married in 1893.
On 20 September 1894 in San Cipirello, Giovanni Pecoraro, age 27 (b. 1867), sensale (broker), resident of San Cipirello, reports the birth on 12 September in via di Maggio to Vincenza Galati, his wife, a housewife, with whom he lives, a baby girl who is presented and named Marianna.[1]
Her father is charged with embezzlement in San Cipirello. He emigrates to New York City, where he is closely associated with the Morello-Terranova crime family.
Marianna arrives on the Spartan Prince in July 1902 with her mother and younger brother. Possibly Marianna's age has been transcribed incorrectly. She is 7-8 years old.
