Biography
Gideon was born in 1775, son of Joshua and Sarah (Mead) Peck.[1]
In 1801, Gideon married Phoebe Wilkinson. They had eight children, all born in Mayfield, New York:[2]
- Phoebe W (b-1802)
- Edward (b-1804)
- Isabella T (b-1807) married Gornea
- Mary (b-1812) married Stetson
- Samuel (b-1814)
- Harvey (b-1816)
- George (Gideon) (b-1818)
- Sally (b-1822, d-1826)
He passed away in 1847.
Research Notes
There is disagreement about the birth location of Gideon. Peck[3] claims Gideon was born in Greenwich, CT along with all his siblings. However, the unpublished family documents says that Gideon was born in Mayfield, NY.
There is also disagreement about the parents of Gideon. Peck[4] claims Gideon's father was Joshua (b-1830). However, Find A Grave: Memorial #86810593 claims his father is Gideon (b-1744) with no spouse or other children given.
