I am a geologist with interest in photography and "all things history". I have lived and worked in Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Oklahoma, and Colorado. I am now retired from the U.S. Geological Survey and living in Mead, Colorado. I have been researching the Paxton and Hurt genealogical lines since November 2005. Based on Ancestry.com DNA results, I belong to a genetic community referred to as "Early Settlers of Virginia and the Lower Midwest". In other words, my Paxtons and Hurts appear to have been in North America since the late 1600s / early 1700s.
I can be found on Facebook as Stan Paxton, Mead, Colorado.

Are you related to me, Charlotte Shockey?
The answer is no. I have had trouble getting the Gardners to communicate with me. One John Gardner has some relatively strong DNA connection....but he only has three people in his tree (on Ancestry) and has not connected his DNA profile to the tree. I have sent him another note...will let you know what I find out.
Take care, Stan Paxton
