Pierre dit LaFontaine Parenteau Pierre was born 1649 in Saintonge, France. At the age of 16 he left France as a soldier of the Carignan-Salieres Regiment. King Louis XIV needed people to settle "New France" and these young men were one step in the King's plan. Pierre sailed on the St. Sebastien, which arrived in Quebec, 12 Sep 1665. Eight years later, 12-09-1673 at Quebec, Pierre married a "Fille de roi," Madeleine Tisserand and they raised a family of ten or eleven children. Pierre was killed in an Indian raid in 1695 at St-Francois-du-Lac, Yamaska, New France.

The land had 4 arpents on front on 14 in depth, that is to say an area of 60 arpents on an island which did not have a name yet (Saint-Joseph island), bounded by the land of Sr Maugras and that of Sr Dubois . It is mentioned that this land was conceded by Jean Crevier on October 3, 1673 before the notary Adhémar, the registry of which act of 1673 Pierre Bibeau had in his hands on October 24, 1704 in Quebec, which probably explains why the act is absent from the Adhémar registry. This land was loaded with three books, two capons or thirty grounds for each capon and three deniers of cens and seigneurial rents on the day of Saint-Martin. Each of the 5 parts was worth 60 pounds.
