Biography

Solomon Parent was born 1774, the son of Daniel Parent and Abigail Weeks, of Westchester County, NY[1]

The family to New Brunswick along with the Loyalists in 1783[1]

On November 5, 1795, he married Abigail Saunders, the daughter of Thomas and Olive Saunders and settled at Bear Island in Queensbury Parish, York County[1] [2]. Their children included:

  1. Thomas Parent b. 8 Jun 1796, d. 28 Aug 1874, m. 15 Mar 1828 Hepzibah Christy or Crilley[1] [3]
  2. William Parent born 14 Dec 1797, d. 31 Dec 1860, m. (1st) Miss McKay, married (2nd) Ann Hallett[4]: had four children[1]
  3. Israel Parent b. 27 Apr 1800, d. 1 May 1866, m. 18 Mar 1830 Eliza Coy d/o David Coy and Mary Ebbitt[5] [1]
  4. Hannah Parent born 10 Apr 1802, died 18 Apr 1899, married John Durix[1] or John Durrell[6]
  5. James Parent b. 30 Jun 1804, m. 19 Dec 1829 Margaret Guion or Guiou[7] [1]
