Biography

Charles was baptised in 1799 in Loughborough, Leicestershire, England.^[1]
He was the son of Joseph & Ann Paget.

First marriage
On 20 August 1823, Charles married Eliza Paget at All Saints, Loughborough, Leicestershire, England. ^[2][3]
It was the first marriage for both, and they were both 21 years old.
Present at the ceremony were Wm Paget and Harriet Paget.

Eliza died on 10 March 1834, aged 32, at home.^[4]

On Monday last, at Ruddington Grange, Eliza, wife

of Charles Paget, Esq. in her 32d year.

Second marriage
On 8 August 1835, Charles married Ellen Tebbutt in Leicester, Leicestershire, England.^[5]
Ellen was the second daughter of Mr. Tebbutt of Kingston.

Charles (74) and Ellen (62) died on 13 October 1873 at Filey, Yorkshire, England, when they were swept off a rock by a wave of extraordinary proportions. His death was regitered in the last quarter of 1873 in Scarborough, Yorkshire, England.^[6]

Research Notes

• Various documents put his birth date at either 1799 or 1802. The 1851 census states that he was 44 and would have been born in 1807, which is obviously off, but the other data in the census matches what we know about him and his family.
• Were Charles and his first wife Eliza cousins or otherwise related?
• Wikipedia reports that Charles and Eliza had six children. Research needed.
