Biography
John was born about 1663;[1] he was the son of John Paget of Rugby in Warwickshire.[2]
He was educated at Queens' College (1679-1682) and took holy orders:[2]
- Orchard Portman (Rector 1688-1698)
- Poyntington (Rector 1691)
- Puckington (1694-1723) (see research note)
- Shepton Beauchamp (1699-1723)
John Pagett of the parish of Pointington, clerk, married Mary Ruddocke on 5 December 1693 in Ansford, Somerset.[3]
He was buried on 9 May 1745 in Poyntington: John Paget Rector of this Parish 55 years - in his 82nd year of his life. [1]
Research Note
- County of Burial Error: The Ancestry PR burial transcription states that John was buried in the parish Poyntington in Dorset, but Pointington/Poyntington is actually in Somerset on the border with Dorset see Family Search England Jurisdictions 1851 Map
- Two Rev John Pagets: The other Reverend John Paget died in Puckington, Somerset in 1723. His Will, dated 2 May 1723, mentions his previous wife Elizabeth (who died 1705), brother William, nephew Simon Paget of Truro Cornwall and current wife Anne. Their records appear to have been combined in the CCEd. Puckington lies 20 miles west of Pointington/Poyntington.
