We are so happy you decided to upgrade to the Family Member level.
Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.
Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.
Questions? You can always use the G2G link in the Help Menu to find answers.
I happened to stumble across Wikitree when I googled an ancestor via Ancestry. I clicked on the information given on WikiTree and followed the links back through the generations, sometimes via the female line when the male line dried up. I ended up going so far back that it took me to the Princes of Wales over 1000 years ago! While this is very fascinating I am worried that it sounds "too good to be true" and that I must have gone wrong somewhere. It also took me back to Scandinavia (Jokull Frostasson) abt. 0240!
Would it be possible for someone with more knowledge about family history than me to let me know if I am going hopelessly wrong somewhere or if all of my research is going in the right direction?
You are welcome to search the profile database and use the Genealogist to Genealogist (G2G) forum for research. For research help, probably the best way to find others searching for your family is the G2G forum. There you could create a new post to introduce yourself and tell others about your quest.
If you decide to add your family and contribute to our shared tree, you will want to upgrade your account to Family Member (it is free). There is a link on your profile under your name, next to “Guest Member” or use this link to upgrade. Just answer the five questions and click on the green box that says "Upgrade”.
