He was the son of Kathleen and William George Marshall.

In 1941 he married 2ly Esmay Margaret Mary Walton née Rout, former wife of Leo Dunbar Ebeling Walton. They were divorced before 1947. She married 3ly Lloyd George Hull.

He died in 1987.
