Biography

Alfred Arthur Page was one of at least fourteen children in his family, he was born on 8 September 1904, in Queensland, Australia to George Henry Page and Mary Wilson. His birth certificate shows the names of his older siblings.

He married Ada Amelia [Millie] Lewis on 12 February 1925 at Stanthorpe and they had three children named- Mavis Ivy Page, Vera Jean [Tuppy] Page and Gloria Anita.

His older brother George Henry Page married Alfred's sister Alice May Lewis and the two men spent a number of years working together.

Their parents had a farm at Glen Aplin in the Stanthorpe district, Queensland, on which the two men worked until shortly after the death of their father in 1924. They then found their way into timber getting and settled at Woodford where they were employed at the sawmill in that Queensland town. Alf worked as a saw doctor.

He lived at Ipswich Queensland for a number of years and when he settled in Brisbane he established with a partner, a successful box making business.

His death occurred whilst mowing his lawn at his home at Rocklea, Brisbane, Queensland, on 7 November 1968 and he was cremated at Mt. Thompson, Brisbane Queensland.

• Page-Another two siblings, Arthur 18 years in 1904, has no further records after the detail on Alf's birth certificate. The youngest child number 14 , was born after 1904 in Queensland.

His brother George Henry has already been attached to the parents.
