Biography

The daughter of Malom Padgett and Cora Lee (Bledsoe) Padgett, Evelyn Padgett was born in Columbia, South Carolina^{[citation needed]} in 1931, residing with her parents by 1940 in Newberry, South Carolina.^[1] Both of her parents worked in a local cotton mill and in 1950, Evelyn worked in a local grocery store, working as food demonstrator, demonstrating pickles.^[2]

Evelyn married Allen Calhoun Hunter, Jr. (1924-2007), the son of Allen Calhoun Hunter and Lenora Boozer, and passed away in Newberry, South Carolina at the age of 74.^[3][4] She is buried at Newberry Memorial Gardens in Newberry.^[5]
