Mary was a Friend (Quaker)
Mary's maiden name is uncertain, but possibly Packingham. She first married Judge John White in Philadelphia and with him had several children.
She second married William Paxson (son of James & Jane (Clerk) Paxton). The date of her her marriage is unknown, however in September 1698 she signed as Mary Paxson along with her daughter Grace White on a marriage certificate at the Middletown Monthly Meeting.[1]
In 1711, after William's death, she transferred to the Philadelphia Monthly Meeting. She was buried at the Falls Monthly burial ground August 31, 1719. She was literate, signed her own will and owned several books at the time of her death. In her will dated December 25, 1718 she described herself as "being weak of body" and "of the town of Bristol". She names the same children as Judge White's will including two daughters, six granddaughters and two grandsons, none of the Paxsons.[1]
