Bertha May (Packard) Englet, 30, passed away on 10 September 1896 at Belmond, Wright, Iowa. She was born on 28 May 1866 at Amsterdam, Hancock, Iowa, the youngest of seven children of Edwin Chester Packard, 1822-1893 and Caroline N. Packard, 1824-1887. She married George P. Englet in 1885.
Upon completion of her education, Mrs. Englet taught school. Following her marriage in 1885, she stopped teaching but continued to reside in her native town of Belmond and became a well known poet with her writings appearing in quite a few prominent periodicals and Iowa newspapers.
Mrs. Englet was survived by: her husband, George, b. 1859; children, Bernice Englet, b. 1880; Claire C. Englet, b. 1885; Agnes Englet, b. 1892; siblings, Alice Agnes (Packard) Luick, b. 1846; Dighton Edward Packard, b. 1848; Alma Cora (Packard) Vennum, b. 1860; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; and siblings, Ellen Caroline (Packard) Schleiffarth, 1845-1895; Albert Bailey Packard, 1852-1863; and Marion Clara Packard, 1863-1883.
Bertha is buried at the Belmond Cemetery, Belmond, Wright, Iowa. The Findagrave memorial ID is 62387996.
Special Note: Bertha's own poem is inscribed on her tombstone: "And I give unto them eternal life and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."
