Biography

Elbert was born on 10 May 1920 in Martin, Kentucky. He was the son of John Pack and Dora Wells.

Elbert married Montana Caldwell on 19 Feb 1942 in Mesquite, Nevada.

Elbert died on 21 Apr 1989 in Sheridan, Madison County, Montana. He was buried in Sheridan Cemetery Sheridan, Madison County, Montana.

Elbert Pack, 68

SHERIDAN - Funeral services for Elbert Pack, 68, a former Sheridan service station owner, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sheridan. Bishop Kenneth Hendrix will conduct services.

Mr. Pack died Friday at a Sheridan hospital of an apparent heart attack.

Born May 10, 1920, in Johnson County, Ky., to John and Dora (Wells) Pack, he spent his early years in Martin County, Ky.

In 1937, he joined the Civil Conservation Corps and was stationed in Leads, Utah, where he met Monty Caldwell. They were married Feb. 19, 1942, in the temple in St. George, Utah.

He served with the Army in the European Theater during World War II,, and in 1948 he moved to Sheridan, where he worked for the Hunt Mining Co. He later owned the Standard service station and worked several years for Halse Motors as a mechanic.

Mr. Pack retired in 1983.

He was an avid hunter, fisher and rock hound.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Jerry, Ron and Jeff Pack of Sheridan, and John Pack of Denver; brothers, Holbert of Kentucky and Clarence of Michigan; sisters, Elizabeth Boyd and Beatrice Coble, both of Kentucky; and nine grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Sheridan Cemetery with military honors.

Memorials are preferred to the Ruby Valley Hospital or the Ruby Valley Ambulance Service.
