In the name of God Almighty, I James Osborn of Russell Co. and Commonwealth of Virginia being in tolerable good health and of sound memory, calling to mind the mortality of my body, knowing that it is appointed for all men to die. With these reflections, I make my last Will and Testament to dispose of what worldly estate it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me with. First, I recommend my soul to Almightly God who gave it and my body to the dust from whence it came to be decently buried by the Executor nothing doubting but it be raised again by the mighty power of Almighty God. Item, I lend to my loving wife Mary during her natural life the dwelling house I now live in with that part of the track of land whereon the house stands, with all the household furniture, excepting beds which she may keep two for herself and two negroes, that is Carter and Amey. Item, I give and bequeath to my son Jonathon, in addition to what I have give him, Fifty Dollars. Item, I give and bequeath to my son David, in addition to what I have given him, Fifty Dollars. Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter, Lucrace, in addition to what I have given her, Ten Dollars. Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter, Elizabeth, in addition to what I have given her, Ten Dollars. Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter, Lucy, in addition to what I have given her, Ten Dollars. Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter, Abagale, in addition to what I have given her, Ten Dollars. Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter, Huldah, in addition to what I have given her, Fifty Dollars. Item, I give and bequeath to my daughter, Polley, in addition to what I have given her, Twenty Dollars. Item, I give and bequeath to my son Solomon, my plantation I now live on so as not to interfere during the natural live of his mother of that part lent her and likewise I give and bequeath to my son Solomon my negro, Ben, Isabel, Harry, Juda, Nelson, Sall, Simon, Mary and likewise, after the death of my loving wife Mary, the two slaves I lent her, that is, Carter and Amey and then to be my son Solomon's. And as there is some money to be raised in paying some small legacies to some of my children, my will is that money I intend to be raised out off my stock of all descriptions and what money I may leave at my death, my will is that my son Solomon may dispose of any part of the same to pay the several sums before stated and likewise any first debts I may owe. I give and bequeath unto Reuel Osborn a small tract of land known by the name of the Chestnut Ridge and when the said Ruel comes of the age of twenty and one years, my will is that my son, Solomon give him a horse, saddle and bridle and good suit of clothes. I hereby appoint David Osborn and Solomon Osborn my executor for this my last will and testament. In witnesses whereof, I set my hand and affixed my seal this 29th day of April in the year of our Lord 1816.

Osborne-4267 and Osborn-1735 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicate same spouse, same children. Adjusted Spelling of child Mary Osborn Gragun to spelling now listed in profile of Cragun, which was actually in more records. Made Gragun alt. spelling. Thank you for the merge of father James Osborn(e),  !

It appears that the place of birth may be incorrect. There are Rev War records for another James Osborne with service in NC. I will have our researcher take a look. I would not merge until I made sure the two were not confabulated.

I agree Patricia Sparkman Thomas. They are the exact same James Osborne and should be merged. I adopted this profile awhile back and kept getting project protected error for Southern Colonies. Contacted Paula and she is working on her researcher completing the merge hopefully.

Osborne-4267 and Osborn-1735 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicated. Same parents. Same spouse. Same death date/location. Same children. DAR records & findagrave records show that James was born in North Carolina not Tennessee. Also headstone indicates James was born in 1745 not 1766. Please merge. Thank you.

Osborne-4267 Unmerged match

The birth dates may be estimated. Birth places match. The death dates now match exactly, but the bio of 3993 includes "passed away in 1826." So this death date may have been added later (without a source). Thanks!
