Biography

Leoluca Ortoleva is born and baptized 6 June 1857 in Corleone. He is the son of Don Biagio Ortoleva and Donna Bernarda Ragusa. His godparents are Don Calogero and Donna Gaetana Ortoleva, brother and sister, both unmarried.[1]

Leoluca, age 26, borgese, marries Maria Antonia Billitti, age 21, contadina, daughter of Giovanni Billitti and Anna Mangano, on 6 October 1882 in Corleone. His father has died by this time.[2]

They marry ten days later in the Church.[3]

Leoluca Ortoleva, 41 (b. 1857), married, sails on the Tartar Prince, arriving from Genova, Italy in New York on 17 October 1898. He and two other men from Corleone, Pietro Orlando and Rosario Terrusa, are all bound for White Castle, Louisiana, where there is a sugar mill industry. Leoluca is joining his cousin, Gesualdo Birrittella.[4]
