Evan was born about 1645 in Wales. The book "The Quaker Ogdens in America" stated he was from Radnorshire, but this doesn't mean he was definitely born there.[1]

Thomas Canby married 2nd in 1709 Mary Oliver, daughter of Evan and Jean (Lloyd) Oliver, who, with their children, David, Elizabeth, John, Mary, Evan, Hannah, had come from Glascombe, Radnorshire, Wales to Pennsylvania, via Bristol, Eng., on Bristol Factor, arr. Oct. 1682. A son was born on shipboard in sight of land just before their arrival and was named "Seaborn Oliver". [3]
