John James Dunn Oland was born on ~14 Jul 1819 in West Monkton, Somerset, England, United Kingdom. He was a canadian brewer. His parents were John Oland (1799 - 1830) and Elizabeth Judith (Dunn) Oland ( - 1855).
John married Susannah Woodhouse Culverwell (~1818 - 1885) on 26 Sep 1842 in St. Stephen's Church in Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.

John died on 2 Oct 1870 in Dartmouth, Halifax, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada aged 51. The 8 Oct 1870 edition of the Presbyterian Witness reported: “John James Dunn Oland d. Sun Prop. of Turtle Grove Brewery, Dartmouth, n/o Bristol, Eng., aged 51”[1]
He supposedly died in a riding accident.[2] However, his death register says "liver complaint".[3]
