Biography
John ONeal was born about 1725. He is the sone of John O'Nailes and Elizabth Bridgers.
John O'Neal and Patience Unknown were married but no marriage record has yet been found. Since their oldest son was born about 1748, it can be assumed that they were married about 1747. John and Patience had three known sons: Zachariah, Micajah and William. (See Research notes)
John ONeal was the first of his brothers to move to Craven County where he received a Land Grant 20 April 1745 in Craven County, North Carolina. Craven County later became Johnston County. [1]
John O'Neal deeded 200 acres of land in Johnston County, North Carolina to William O'Neal "for love and good will that I have............to my beloved son William O'Neal" Deed signed 6 April 1777. [2]
Research Note
John died in Johnston County, North Carolina rather than Hyde County. There was another John O'Neal who lived and died in Hyde County, North Carolina.
Previously attached sons John ONeal, Jr and Isham ONeal, and Moses ONeal are being removed as they are sons of another relative.
William ONeal has been removed as a son of John and Patience O'Neal. The correct William has been added.
