Biography

Richard O'Byrne, son of John O'Byrne and Mary Gernon, died in 1803.^[1]

It is not certain that he was born in Wicklow, as his mother Mary Gernon was from County Louth, his father was a wine merchant and grower in Bordeaux. According to John O'Hart's Irish Pedigrees; or, the Origin and Stem of the Irish Nation, Richard married Elizabeth Stack, who was from Bath, Somerset, England. Richard's son, William R. O'Byrne appears to have retained the Wicklow connection directly as an M.P. for the County Wicklow in the 1800's.
