James died on October 23, 1923 in Oakleigh, Victoria, Australia, aged about 66, and his remains were interred in the Springvale Botanical Cemetery.[2]
The following newspaper notice was published ... O'NEILL.—On the 23rd October at private hospital Oakleigh, James dearly beloved husband of Alice, and loving father of Charles,Florence George, Lucy, and Myrtle of 42 Hobart road Murrumbeena. Passed peacefully away.[3]
