When Richard O'Neill landed in Port Ellizabeth South Africa, he was a Sailor in His Majesty's Navy. He joined the Royal African Corps and in 1825 he was discharged and soon after he joined the Voortrekker Movement and spent his last days at his farm at Majuba Mountain, Kwa-Zulu Natal. He was my 3rd Great Grandfather, and his son John James was my 2nd Great Grandfather. I have DNA matches with John James to prove my ancestry.
