Cinthia was born about 1783. She is the daughter of William O'Neal and Williams unknown first wife who was the mother of all his children.
Cinthia reportedly married David Hopkins, possibly in Johnston County, North Carolina but marriage record has not been discovered at this time.
There may not have been a marriage as Cinthia is listed on the 1820 census as Cinthy O'Neal on 7 August 1820. There is one female 26-44 (Cinthia) and 1 male 10-15. The male would be her son Hopkins O'Neal. Since Hopkins carries her maiden name, it can be assumed that there was no marriage but that David Hopkins is the father. David is listed on the tax list in Johnston County through 1814. [1] This census record has only been found on Ancestry.com.
There were also court records where Cinthia sued David Hopkins; he then sold land to pay her from the results of the suit. [2]
The division of her father's property, dated 7 July 1796 and the inventory dated 26 August 1796 and signed by Feaerby Oneale and John Duck, in Johnston County, North Carolina.
In addition there is a court ordered division of estate which lists children - both daughters and sons.
