Biography
Gerard "Cullie" Tynan O'Mahony was born on the 1st January 1900[1] to John O'Mahony, a barrister, and Nora Tynan (not Lynam as on the register of births).
His father died in 1904[2] aged just 34.
He joined the Irish Times in 1928 and was manager there until shortly before his death in 1948[3].
He married Jean Ballantyne Archer in Marylebone, London toward the end of 1929[4] and they had three children.
Died in Dublin in 1948 aged 48 years[5]
