Joseph Knott/Nott was born March 27, 1810, a son to William Knott and Sarah .. at the Lying-in Hospital, Endell Street, Holborn, London, England. He was baptised April 5, 1810 at the hospital.

He married Priscilla Holt (daughter of John Holt and Priscilla Crouch) ^[1] July 15, 1833 at St John Waterloo in Lambeth, Surrey, England.

They had four children; Sarah (1835- ), William (1837-?), Joseph (1840-1897) and William (1841-1842?)
